Ways to Keep Your Skin Hydrated
When thinking of healthy and supple skin, we cannot help but think of a moisturized and fairer skin, and we often associate moisturized skin to hydrating through drinking water and expensive day and night moisturizer. There is no question to this as consistent rehydration really helps in keeping your skin moisturized, leaving it soft, clear and supple. In fact, according to a nutritionist, Shona Wilkinson, your skin will look plumper when you drink many glasses of water on a regular basis. This does not just hydrate your cells but also serves as an effective toxin eliminator of your body. We provide you some tips on this article but we recommend that you seek advice from experts like Frisco Dermatology for a formal skin check-up.
There is more needed to keep your skin hydrated aside from drinking water.
- Do not wash your face in the morning
Your skin produces natural sebum that slows down the loss of water from your skin. When you wash your face in the morning, you take off this natural sebum. Aside from this, cleaners containing surfactants, some detergent-like molecules, wash away your skin sebum.
Even if you intend to put some moisturizer on after washing your face or cleansing your face, it still does not match the natural sebum your face produces.
- Use a humidifier
When you are exposed to a dry climate, your skin is prone to drying. To avoid this, use a cold-water humidifier that keeps the optimal moisture in the air. This effectively provides humidity in the environment for up to six hours. Use this with some essential oils especially when you are sleeping.
When you do not have any humidifier, you can have a DIY. Get and place a bowl of water in the room next to the heat source. This helps make the room moist. The second alternative is putting a spray bottle to moisturize your skin. All you need to do is to mix some essential oils (five to six drops) and water. Spray it around the room to boost the moisture in the environment.
- Eat watery food
Fruits and vegetables that are rich in water like cucumber, watermelon, carrot, apple, melon, pear, and others can help your skin hydrated from the inside. These fruits and veggies do not just hydrate your skin cells, but also provide nutrients and minerals that make your body healthier. A healthier body manifests healthier skin cell.
You can eat them in between your meals (as your snack).
- Do not drink coffee and alcohol
Caffeine and alcohol sip off water from your body including water in your skin cells. Consistent intake of these will lead to drier skin.
5.Apply some honey
Raw and pure honey that is virgin and non-pasteurized is rich with nutrients and antioxidants. Aside from this, honey contains healing compounds that are good for your skin. It also effectively locks in moisture in your face and skin. All you need to do is to apply raw honey and leave it from five to seven minutes. After, wash off with warm water.
